{ Celebrating Easter }

We didn't really make any plans for Easter this year.  After all, we could very well have been having a baby.  Wret's actual due date was today, April 1.  I am very, very glad he came early, but with recuperating and adjusting to life with a new baby, the festivities kind of took a back seat.  Despite our lack of plans, however, the weekend turned out really nice and I am pretty sure we made some lifelong memories.

 We spent the weekend as our little family.  It was a BEAUTIFUL weekend of warm sunshine.  Saturday morning we took the kids to the Easter egg hunt with our church.  I was feeling pretty sick, having come down with a sore throat/cold the day before, but I didn't want to miss it, and thankfully I felt better after being in the fresh air and sunshine.  The kids had a lot of fun!  It is such a blessing to have gotten to know all of these families at our church over the past year.  We are so thankful for the relationships that have been built during this time and look forward to them growing more over time.

Sunday morning we went to church.  It was pretty crazy getting everyone ready on time, but we made it!!!! Tim and I worked together on our dinner.  We kept it simple, spiral ham, scalloped potatoes and asparagus, with carrot cake for dessert...... from a box!  NOT as good as one from scratch, but it was what I could manage :)

When the kids woke up from their naps we did an egg hunt in the front yard and then took them to the park.  It was a wonderful weekend of celebrating our Risen Saviour!  Happy Easter!

{ Easter 2012 }

What was the most wonderful thing about this weekend?
It was spent doing nothing, nothing but spending time
together and relaxing. We really needed this. After our
wonderfully full weekend one week prior and the serious
sleep deprivation we’ve been living under lately, it was
just what we needed. Tim and I kept remarking all
weekend about how stress free we felt. We couldn’t
remember feeling this way in a very long time.

Before this post becomes “candy coated”, however, let me
just say that nights around here have been pretty rough
lately.  We are diligently working on combating our dear little
18 Month old’s three-hour middle of the night “I want to play”
time and temper-tantrums-by-day phase that he has developed
this past week. We’re determined to “win”, but in the mean time
there’s not a lot of sleep happening around here!

Saturday morning we took Oliver to the Easter Egg hunt put on
by our church. He went to his first egg hunt last year, but he
couldn’t even crawl at the point so it meant nothing to him.
This year he actually had a lot of fun putting his eggs in the basket.
He had even more fun running down the hill over the very muddy
grass, which kept his dad busy!

Afterwards we enjoyed hot drinks back at the host's house and the
Easter story told with “Resurrection Eggs”. This was our first family
event with this church so it was a good opportunity to meet other
parents and kids. We have been earnestly praying about where we
should be attending church now that our family has grown and our
needs have changed. We are feeling pretty much at peace about
beginning to attend this church, but it is also hard to leave where we
have been, in some ways, especially for Tim.

When we returned home, I got the kids fed and down for naps while
Tim grilled burgers. The PERFECT way to spend a lazy Saturday
afternoon. We enjoyed sitting outside together and talking. When
Oliver woke up he joined us and had a grand time exploring the
wood pile. It was a good day to be a little boy (in between learning
the hard lesson of coming and stopping when called)! In the
evening we took a family walk up on campus. No camera that time,
just good memories.

Sunday morning we had planned to go to church here in town, but it
was a very rough morning for me and we just didn't get out of the
house in time. We decided to head down to my parent's church (and
my church before I got married) instead. It was great to see everyone
again.  We then headed over to my parent's house for a scrumptious
turkey dinner.  It is always so fun to see my parents with the kids.
They are head over heels for these two!

After dinner we all piled into the car and went for a
walk down by the river. It was the perfect outing for
a beautiful spring day!  Oliver took a nap, which
was an added blessing!

Happy Easter!  He is Risen Indeed!
